- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken, season with salt and black pepper, and cook for 5 to 6 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and fully cooked. Remove chicken from skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add 1/4 cup water and broccoli florets. Cover and steam for 2 to 3 minutes until broccoli is slightly tender yet crisp. Drain any remaining water and transfer broccoli to a plate.
- Reduce heat to medium-low. Add unsalted butter to the skillet. Once melted, add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Pour in soy sauce, lemon juice, and red pepper flakes if using. Stir to combine.
- Return cooked chicken to the skillet and toss to coat thoroughly in the garlic butter sauce. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes until chicken is evenly coated.
- Add steamed broccoli to the skillet and gently stir until mixed with chicken and sauce.
- Remove skillet from heat. Garnish with sesame seeds and fresh parsley if desired. Serve warm, as is or over rice, pasta, or cauliflower rice.
